2008: This year I resolve to

01 January 2008

... TRY OUT THIS WHOLE NEW YEAR'S RESOLUTIONS THING.
Just a feeling but this one's gonna be a cakewalk.

... BE POSITIVE.
There's not enough room in my 2008 for negativity.

... BE MORE CONSCIENTIOUS ABOUT MY BODY.
Keep exercising. More vegetarian. Eliminate fast food. Etc. Etc.

... PHOTOBLOG. A LOT.
You heard it here first. Plus Steve agreed to photoblog every day in January with me and a promise is a promise.

... BLOG. A LOT MORE.
I got this one in the bag.

... TAKE A VACATION'S VACATION.
One of them real ones. Too much working and not enough playing.

And a couple of other boring, grown-up kinds of resolutions that nobody really wants to hear about. It's going to be a fantastic year, I can already tell.

Happy 2008 everyone!!

Just got back from the dentist and I can't stop touching myself. It's been 5½ years since the last time I saw the dentist (just long enough for their highly sophisticated technology to erase any record of my last visit) and they found one teeny, tiny, miniscule little cavity in the back. Imagine my confusion now that eventhough the cavity is fixed the entirety of the right half of my face is numb.

Including my eye.

I'm pretty sure I've had my jaw put to sleep before and I'm pretty sure that as the medicine wears off the place where they inject you hurts like a you-know-what. But I'm also pretty sure they've never filled me up with so much medicine even my eye went numb.

My face, it feels so funky. Just thought I'd share.

You wouldn't even believe what I've had to go through to get to tonight's Bon Iver concert at the Turf Club. Actually I kinda blame myself for blogging about him, blogging about him again, then again, promo'ing him on vita.mn (twice), and then emailing all my friends about his concert tonight with links to his album online.

Think Margaret, think.

Which is why I'm not telling any of you bitches about the when or where of his next concert. Except that I'm going to bring my friend Leslie and a 35mm camera and take some crusty good photos that will float your boat. And once he sees how fantastic they are they'll float his boat too.

I'm pretty excited about tonight.

Oh yeah, I did mention something about a 35mm camera. There's a story to tell there... but you'll just have to wait! It's a good one though and definitely worth the wait.

The flu has had me on the dark side for the past 4 days, a flu I'm sure had nothing at all to do with standing out in negative temperatures for 25 minutes last Thursday night to see Bon Iver play the Turf Club (totally worth every minute of the cold, btw). Definitely my favorite show of 2008, even if it's the only show I've seen in 2008 so far. But it's only January so there's a whole lotta rockin' to be had on my 2008 dance card.

Still cloudy in the head and just moving past that whole laryngitis thing (did you know people still get that? cuz I totally do whenever I get sick) so let's keep it all over the map today, que non?

+ Bad news first eventhough it shouldn't come as a major shock to anyone who's as excited about bloody, brutal, gorey, violent, sexually deviant MMOs of 2008 on the tips of everyone's tongues: Age of Conan has been pushed back, again, from March to May. Shocking. So like, does this mean Warhammer and Age of Conan are coming out the same weekend, which also happens to be the same weekend of the Indiana Jones movie? I swear Mythic and Funcom are having a chicken contest. "No you first, NO YOU, hahaha pwnt noobz."

+ I'm shooting film again. This one deserves its own blog post, which it will get, soon.

+ Hey, did you know I also have a mini link blog on this site? Cuz I totally do and there's some surprisingly good content in it. It's right in the middle of the page in a very forgettable position. Apparently there's been some massive confusion about all the RSS feeds up and in this joint so let me lay it down for you:

I trust you'll do the right thing.

+ I got a Wii and it is [RIDICULOUSLY] good. Games acquired: Super Mario Galaxy, Legend of Zelda, Mario Party 8, Guitar Hero III, and of course Wii Sports. Wii Sports is like crack and should be avoided at all costs. Even when you're bowling and find out that as a pro you get a PINK BOWLING BALL covered in SHINY STARS ... step away from the Wii. Someone gave me Guitar Hero III for the Wii and I was all, "Blah blah blah FINE I'LL TAKE IT" cuz everyone can't stop talking about this stupid game. And I looked at the silly guitar and thought to myself, "This is so dumb." But then I started playing along with Pat Benetar. And Kiss. And Poison. And you know what? It doesn't suck. In fact it's kind of fun. So much fun you find yourself wanting to unlock more and more songs just to see what else is hiding in there. *sigh* Fine I'll say it: I like Guitar Hero III.

+ There's a contest going on, have you heard about this one? Vita.mn is looking for the Most Eligible Bachelors and Bacheloretes of the Twin Cities. Are you or is someone you know one of these people? If so, why aren't you nominating them right now? There will be a cover story written about them, a party at Soundbar (did I mention there are rumors of an OPEN bar?? - that's totally between you and me btw), other phat lootz, and bragging rights to go around. The first round of voting starts later this week - check back often and vote your faves up (or down, whatever your flavor). We'll make it worth your time. Promise.

+ The Lili's Burlesque show photos are done and I'll be uploading them to flickr any day now. You know you can't help yourself, they're delicious.

Time for more medication, thanks for hanging in there.

Ma nothe, ith's all thuffed up

Super duper apologies to those people who've been trying to reach me the past few days. I've been really sick the past 2 weeks which finally culminated in a trip to the doctor's office this morning which under normal circumstances might annoy me since it was the ghetto doctor's office in Whittier where you're churned in and out like butter, but since they gave me a lot of nice narcotics and drugs which will be putting me to sleep in oh ... T minus 30 minutes ... that whole weird experience was kinda lost on me.

The important thing is drugs! It also kinda explains why some people thought I was looking a little, uh, weird (tired? gaunt? pale? sober?) in this photo. It's because I hadn't yet been medicated which will allllll change very shortly. A big shout-out to the nice doctor who sent me home with a bag full of goodies.

A few things to note before Indigo and I fall asleep at the keyboard...

First, Obama is in town this Saturday and he's speaking at the Target Center. If you subscribed to my link-bar you'd already know that, natches ;). Whether you are or aren't voting for him you should be there. Being informed isn't such a bad thing.

Second, tomorrow (01/31) is the last day to VOTE for your picks for the Most Eligible Bachelor and Bachelorette in the Twin Cities. You know you want to see the pix and read the profiles... do eet!

I think there was a third and fourth but I've already forgotten them. Hope everyone is staying healthy and well.
