The funnest cookie party you'll ever go to

09 March 2006

Channeling Matt for a mere moment, I'd like to take this opportunity to invite each and every one of your esteemed selves, O Mighty Snarkatrons, for feedback. Yes indeedy. In what might go down as evidence of the most monumentally misjudged decisions on my part to post this invitation, I'm setting a very public stage for the largest number of smart-mouthed smartasses I've ever known to get their groove on.

(That was a compliment, just so you know.)

So here's the situation. I'm working on a.... pet project. The point of said pet project is to select a dozen of my best photographs and print them out on 8x12" paper. Your mission (should you choose to accept): help me decide which photographs to print.

This whole exercise is like an episode of Fear Factor to an indecisive Libra (that's me!). Sounds easy right? Not after we get done COMPLICATING THINGS! (Oww my head.)

  • You may choose up to 6 (plus or minus) photographs.
  • From anything you've seen on my photoblog.
  • Okay, almost anything. The number of selections with *me* in them must not exceed one. Translated? Try not to pick any of my self-portraits unless they're an absolute casuality and the future of the world depends on my appearance in what might in fact be the last photograph physically documented in this 3-dimensional cosmic journey we share, aka life. One, that's all ya'get.
  • The number of black and white shots must not exceed 50% of your final selections. Let color be your friend.
  • Keep in mind that what works well on the web might not work well in print. So, uh, try to imagine these hanging in your living room or something.
  • You've got about 36 hours to make your selections, the clock starting NOW.

You can leave your list of shots in the comments below, or if you're a privacy-seeking super stalking type feel free to use this handy dandy super nifty contact form for all your stalking needs. Ha ha ha yeah. The rest of you know where to email me.

Everyone who plays along gets a cookie. Or a puppy. You know, whatever your preference.

Annnnnd, go.

(And thank you! xxx)

CDs? Really?

You do know there was a Britney Spears in that photo right? (Totally *NOT* my cd. I bought it for a friend, or, um, something.)

Okay, I'm going for big time color:

Gamla Stan (Old Town), Stockholm, Sweden

Showbiz

Basilica blue

Men's Room

Natural Gradients, Stillwater, MN

I think there needs to be one portrait too. This one is a fave.

Blue Hat!

For the record, this is too difficult. Are multiple entries an option?

Posted by Bryan on March 9, 2006 3:05 PM:

If you absolutely *must* post multiple entries I'll allow that.

But you should probably know you you're waiving the cookie/puppy clause....

I *so* am playing...can I get a puppy though?

They're all great but having to choose just 6:
1) meet Tommy (your cutest subject ever)
2) pigeons
3) shooting star
4) old town Stockholm
5) tie; boquet/stem&petals (very Georgia O"Keefe)
6) memorial day

hell yes CDs. I'm not really sure why tho.

a friend...right...sure...

i also noticed *you* had it at the top of the pile.

Is this some elaborate ploy for attention?
Sounds like a great way to boost self-esteem!

I'm gonna have to do some surfing when I get to campus. My internet at home is worse than dial-up. I think smoke signals would be faster.

If that's what helps ya sleep at night buddy ;-).

Actually I'll be happy to spill all as soon as it's humanly possible. For now let's just play the puppy and cookie game cuz, well, puppies and cookies are worth it!

Okay - with your 'picture something in hanging in the livingroom' suggestion in mind, here are Josh's favorite colorful selections:

Secret Red Door

Look Right

Stems and Petals

Every living room deserves a Minneapolis Skyline By Night shot

Mens Room

Basilica BlueAnd because they're soo damn funny Ho #1 and Ho #2

Seriously, it's tought to pick just a handfull.

They all posess something beautiful and I'm glad you're eye glanced long enough for you to capture it.

I really glad that you share your thoughts and talents.

And, I'll have a cookie, please.

My Picks:

(Disclaimer: I have no formal art training whatsoever. may cause irritation, discontinue use if symptoms persist, items not shown actual size, your mileage may vary)

"Tube station, London"

"Sunflower"

"Sugar 2"

"Best friends shouldn't be allowed to look this good"

"2005. It was good."

And because I'm also an indecisive Libra, a tie for my final pick (if only that clown had been lookin' at the photographer, that would have been the clear choice...)

"Sunday Statues"

"Drive-By Clowning"

Jen - I'll agree with that. Tommy *is* probably the cutest subject I've ever photographed!

Steve - I think you forgot a few.

Not2Sure - it was the frosting up the nose on the birthday photo wasn't it? Anytime there's frosting up the nose you've *got* to have a winner on your hands.

Josh - I'm with you on the Mens Room shot... but uh, would you really want to have a photo of a restroom on your living room wall? I'unno. Maybe that's just me ;-).

Shea - what, no photos of you?! I took some good ones of you too (No Name To Speak of sooooo agrees with me too ;).

Kevin - maybe you're on to something. The next Mpls photowalk should be at the Mall of America. Ha ha ha, that'd be so funny. First person to get arrested get a SUPER, GIANT, big-as-your-head cookie!

Eric - I agree with the photo of Keira (best friend shouldn't be allowed...). Anyone with hair that naturally curly and beautiful shouldn't be left out.

The cookies are your prerogative. But I'm just sayin'... why would you want a pumpkin chocolate chip cookie when you can have a cute, fluffy, happy, cuddly, soft & squishy PUPPY?

Posted by sopheava on March 10, 2006 9:29 AM:

The first picture in Keira's Quote-Unquote Photoshoot followed by our lovely Margaret at 28 then His Postingness at the Big Bowl. Venturing off with Margaret capturing a moment of a very merry engagement then off to observe the shoe shopper in her natural habitat finished up with the third photo of BFF Shea "Ivanna" Humpalot.
