The sport of packing

12 April 2005

I'm taking a break from packing at the moment. Women have just WAYYYYYY too much going on when trying to tackle this whole "packing" issue. There's colors, seasons, season changes, shoes, morning, evening, mid-day, jewelery, hair, make-up, hygeine, gifts, presents, photography hardware, and traveling issues (to name a scant few) to be considered.

Men, please take a moment to realize this.

Thank you.

So I've still only got a passport and dress packed, but there's now piles of things I'll be requiring for this trip neatly piled around my dining room floor. And for the next 24 hours I'll be constructing and deconstructing all the ways in which I can bring as many pairs of shoes, outfits, and layers as possible.

What I really need is a male traveling companion so that I can have him bring an extra suitcase for me.

Then I would have 3, he would have 1, and the world would once again be at peace.

Amen.

I *would* interject and say that I pack more than any woman I've ever known. But if I say those things then I *would* look kinda fruity.

And I never look out of place or different. Right. Carry on then.

I packed soooo much extra crap for France that it wasn't even funny. There were at least 5 sweaters that never got worn and 4 "boob" shirts that didn't see the light of day. Strangely - all 6 pairs of shoes that I brought were worn.

So you're taking three suitcases, and would like to be able to take four...
HOW many weeks did you say you were spending in London again?
And is one of those suitcase entirely filled with shoes?

I'll try to address these one by one....

Prakope) you *would* have done that but then you met me, and I pack a lot. And you're right, you *would* look kinda fruity but I think it's too late for that too ;-).

Raych) I've already got 4 pairs of shoes packed, but 6 is my magic number.

Wellington) I'm trying to keep it all contained in one suitcase but I just don't see how that's going to happen. My point is that I *need* a traveling companion so I have an extra suitcase! Any volunteers?

Char) I can't believe you *only* took 2! How did you manage? DId you fill up a carry'on too?

T-5 and counting until - THE PACKAGE!
