Election day

01 November 2004

Tomorrow is election day. I will be waking up at 6:00 7:00 am to shower and get the polls before work.

And so should you.

I wish I had a vote! Fingers crossed that the American public does the right thing, but I have a horrible feeling that Bush is going to win again. Did you see that New York Times article about his absolute belief that God is speaking through him, and that he can run a country (including foreign policy) on gut feeling alone? It was scary stuff, I can tell you...

Welly,

If Bush wins I might end up on your doorstep seeking political asylum. So if some strange looking American comes knocking on your door, be kind.

Well, I can now officially say that I cast my vote today and it certainly wasn't for Mr. God Speaks Through Me Bush.

My daughter had Election Day at her school today (she's in 3rd grade) and all of her classmates voted for Kerry except for her one little friend. This is the same friend that also had nothing to say today when all the kids gave a speech on what they did for Halloween. She didn't go trick-or-treating or dress up or do anything at all because "Halloween is the Day of the Devil." I'm quite sure that her parents also believe that "God" speaks through George Bush. Poor kid...

I shall expect you both knocking on my door imminently, should political asylum prove necessary. Soph too, naturally - I'd better break out a few spare mattresses!
I'll put the kettle on, just in case.
Fingers crossed though! Keep thinking positive thoughts!

I had *A* drink a little earlier and feel I could go right to sleep. Dare I attempt to stay up all night biting my fingernails... or should I just pack and take the red-eye to London.

Hmmmm....
